FRENFORD 1st suffered a hard defeat at the hands of Hornchurch Athletic. FRENFORD won the toss and elected to field on a wicket that looked like it might favour bowler. FRENFORD got off to a good start restricting the opposition to 33 runs after 10 overs.

The Captain Ejaz took the 1st wicket with a lovely delivery that clipped the top of off stump. This brought Hornchurch’s overseas player Jahron Alfred to the crease. Jahron took to our attack instantly with a display of Brutality! Jahron scored 99 runs off just 66 balls, which included 10 sixes. There was some further lusty blow from numbers 7, 8 and 9 who scored 74 runs between them in just 53 ball. This score was aided by some very average fielding by Frenford, which included a number of drop catches in the totalling double figures ( I stopped counting after 10). Hornchurch finished on 294 on a slow outfield.

The Frenford reply never got going and was never up with the run rate. The visitors bowled with good discipline and tied us down for the entire innings. Good starts from Ashwin and Umer, 32 and 36 respectively. This was the only resisting from a disappointing batting display.

We move on to the next match with optimism and hope for a better outcome.
