Another successful weekend saw Frenford sides in action across the Hamro Foundation Essex League and Essex Women's competitions, producing some outstanding individual performances and excellent team displays. From dominant victories to valuable learning experiences, here's how our captains reflected on the weekend's cricket.

1st XI – Mo' Amin (Captain)
Travelling to Stanford Le Hope, we lost the toss and the hosts elected to bat first, and our bowlers responded brilliantly from the very first over.
Hussey gave us the perfect start by making the early breakthrough, before Pratik took complete control of the innings with an outstanding spell. He consistently hit the right areas, asked questions of the batters throughout and deservedly finished with an excellent five-wicket haul. Mo' Rahim also deserves huge credit after stepping up from the 2nd XI, bowling with great control to claim three wickets and making an immediate impact at 1st XI level.
It was a real team bowling performance, with everyone contributing in the field as we dismissed Stanford Le Hope for just 127 in 31.5 overs. Restricting any side to that total away from home is always pleasing and gave us real confidence heading into the chase.
Our reply wasn't quite as straightforward as we'd hoped after losing two early wickets, but there was never any panic in the dressing room. Hasnain and Mo' Ahmed absorbed the pressure superbly before gradually taking control of the innings. Both batted with patience, composure and positive intent, building an unbeaten century partnership that completely took the game away from the hosts.
Seeing both players pass fifty was thoroughly deserved, and they guided us home comfortably for an eight-wicket victory with plenty of overs to spare.
It was a very professional performance from the whole squad. The bowlers laid the platform, the fielders backed them up brilliantly, and the batters finished the job with maturity. We'll take plenty of confidence from this result as we look to build momentum over the coming weeks.

2nd XI – Hamza Mahmud (Captain)
Frenford 2nd XI were at home against Hornchurch, with the visitors winning the toss and electing to bat first.
We made an excellent start with the ball. Sharp fielding from Haroon produced an early run out and some excellent catches kept Hornchurch under pressure, restricting them to 120/5. Haroon then backed that up with three wickets, while every other bowler chipped in with one as we eventually bowled the opposition out for 264.
Our response with the bat was outstanding. The top order negotiated a good opening spell before taking control of the chase. I was pleased to contribute 116, while Bash scored 57 and Abdullah added 58 as we chased the target down in just 39.5 overs to complete an excellent team victory.

3rd XI – Waqqas Naqvi (Captain)
We lost the toss and were asked to field first on what looked an excellent batting surface at Frenford HQ. Credit to our bowlers, who responded magnificently from the outset.
The experience of Zulfi (2), combined with the raw pace and talent of Hussain (1), caused Hornchurch problems straight away, with both picking up early breakthroughs and setting the tone for the innings. Once the first-change bowlers came into the attack, Vishal produced an outstanding spell to claim his first five-wicket haul of the season, while Saif-Ali (2) ripped through the middle and lower order with targeted spells. Together they ensured Hornchurch never built any real momentum as we dismissed them for 166.
With the bat, losing Rohit early wasn't part of the plan, but once again Taseen showed exactly why he's enjoyed such an impressive start to the season. Still only an Under-16 player, he batted with maturity, patience and real composure, combining superbly with Amir to weather the new ball and rebuild the innings. Both thoroughly deserved their half-centuries and put us back in complete control of the chase.
When Amir departed, Furqaan came in and did what Furqaan does best. He played with typical aggression, took the pressure straight back onto the bowlers and helped see Taseen through to a comfortable victory.
Overall, it was a very good performance. We bowled well, fielded with good intensity and batted sensibly when we needed to. There's still plenty to improve on, and we'll continue demanding high standards from ourselves, but this was another solid team performance and another important win.

4th XI – Robert Rollins (Captain)
*BYE WEEK*
---
5th XI – Razi Siddiqui (Captain)
The 5th XI fixture was unfortunately abandoned due extensive damaged caused prior to the game, making the wicket unplayable.
Although disappointing to have to leave the field, with an eager young side wanting to show their talents and move up through the senior XI's, the young squad continues to train well and will be looking forward to returning to league action next weekend.

Kestrels 1st XI – Fatima Imtiaz (Captain)
Our Essex Women's 100 Plate Final didn't end with the trophy returning to Frenford, but there is still plenty for us to be proud of.
Firstly, full credit to Hutton. They were exceptionally well captained, organised superbly in the field and showed exactly the standards required to compete at the top end of the Essex Women's Premier League. Every aspect of their game was disciplined and professional, making it a fantastic learning experience for our group.
Of course we're disappointed with the result, but reaching the final is still a significant achievement for this squad. We've grown together throughout the competition and every player has gained valuable experience playing in a major county final.
If we achieve our goal of promotion this season, these are exactly the standards we'll need to reach consistently. That's the biggest lesson we'll take away.
There is nothing to be disappointed about. We learn, we improve and...
We Go Again.

Kestrels 2nd XI – Diana Tasi (Captain)
The Kestrels 2nd XI had no fixture this weekend.
Training continues to be positive and the squad is continuing to improve every week. The younger players are gaining confidence with every session and everyone is looking forward to getting back out onto the field next weekend.
