Senior Kestrels Crowned EWPL Division 2 Champions

David Pike

Promotion secured. Championship won. A season to remember for Frenford’s Senior Kestrels 1st XI

There are some moments in a season that stand above the rest, and Sunday’s victory over local neighbours Wanstead & Snaresbrook 2nd XI was one of them.

Having secured promotion the previous week, the Senior Kestrels 1st XI entered the latest round knowing that another victory would make the mathematics simple: they would be crowned EWPL Division 2 Champions.

And they delivered.

The result officially confirmed the Kestrels as league champions, completing an outstanding campaign and giving the squad a deserved reward for the work, consistency and commitment they have shown throughout the season.

With Fatima Imtiaz back in the captain’s chair, the Kestrels produced another composed team performance, combining disciplined bowling with a confident run chase to secure an eight-wicket victory. More importantly, it was another demonstration of the collective strength that has defined this team throughout the campaign.

For Frenford, the achievement represents another significant step forward for the women’s game at the club. The Kestrels have not simply secured promotion; they have gone one step further and claimed the Division 2 title.

And there is still one game to go.

Next week’s final fixture now takes on a very different feel. Rather than a battle for points or position, it becomes an opportunity for the players, families and supporters to celebrate what has been an exceptional season.

From promotion to champions in the space of two weeks.

Congratulations to the entire Senior Kestrels 1st XI squad and everyone who has supported them throughout the campaign.

EWPL Division 2 Champions.

A brilliant achievement. A proud moment for Frenford.
