There are some achievements that transcend statistics, trophies and records.
Last week, one of Frenford Cricket Club's most celebrated sons, Ravi Bopara, was officially inducted into the inaugural Vitality Blast T20 Hall of Fame , a fitting recognition for one of the greatest players ever to grace the domestic game.
Selected by an independent panel alongside a public vote, Ravi joins an elite group of players whose contributions helped shape the history and success of T20 cricket in England and Wales.
For cricket followers across the country, Ravi's record speaks for itself. More than 5,000 Vitality Blast runs, over 160 wickets, 236 appearances and a career spanning every season of the competition since its inception in 2003. A 2019 Blast winner with Essex and a player capable of changing games with bat or ball, he leaves behind a legacy few can match.
But for us at Frenford, Ravi is much more than statistics.
He is one of our own.
A lifelong member whose connection to Frenford stretches back generations, Ravi remains a familiar face around the club. Whether chatting with members, supporting young players, watching games or simply enjoying time with friends and family, he has never forgotten where his cricket journey began.
What makes Ravi special isn't just the success he achieved at Essex, England and around the world , it's the humility, warmth and generosity he continues to show to everyone he meets.
Many of our junior players know Ravi not just as an international cricketer or T20 legend, but simply as someone always willing to stop for a conversation, offer advice, pose for a photo or encourage a young cricketer taking their first steps in the game.
His family's connection to Frenford spans three generations, making this achievement feel personal for so many people connected to the club.
For every youngster currently walking through the gates at the Jack Carter Centre dreaming of where cricket might take them, Ravi's journey remains the perfect example of what can be achieved through talent, hard work, resilience and dedication.
The Hall of Fame may celebrate Ravi's achievements on the field, but at Frenford we celebrate something even more important.
The person.
Congratulations Ravi. A T20 Hall of Fame inductee, a cricketing legend, and forever a Frenford boy.
