Behind every Frenford team sheet there’s a story… and usually a bit of chaos in the car on the way to an away game.
This time, we catch up with Fatima Imtiaz, a true club product with deep family ties to FCC, to talk massive individual scores, family connections, and why you definitely don’t want her mum in charge of the GPS...
How did your Frenford journey begin?
“My dad and brothers used to be practicing/coaching and Coach Rob used to call me down to join the coaching sessions.”
Favourite Frenford cricketing moment?
“Scoring 151 not out” (Absolutely massive!)
Best player you’ve played with at Frenford?
“David Pike (?!) and my dad - 5th team”
Who are you backing for…
Final over with the ball? Roshni
Winning runs with the bat? Georgie
Driving to an away game? Haleema auntie (Smart choices… always trust Auntie with the driving.)
Dressing room insights…
Funniest teammate? Georgie
Worst away-day passenger? “Mahfuza (mum) - terrible directions”
Most likely to forget their kit? Jasmine
Cricket teas & away days
Best tea? “Shazia Aunties Chicken Sliders” and “Fruit”
Favourite ground? Coggeshall
One to watch at Frenford?
“Mohamed Faheem - been training hard all winter”
One former Frenford player you’d bring back? Ravi Bopara ( No coach Rob ?)
Closing Fatima: a true FCC family story, a dominant force with the bat, and clearly making sure she isn't the one navigating on away days!
Keep an eye out for the next Meet The Captain... as we continue to shine a light on the personalities that make Frenford Cricket Club what it is, on and off the pitch.
