The indoor season is underway, with Frenford teams from across the junior and senior pathways getting their winter campaigns underway.

It was a mixed opening round of results, with plenty of valuable experience gained — particularly for some of our younger sides stepping up into new age groups.

U11 Falcons — A Tough Opening Test

The U11 Falcons opened their indoor campaign against Chingford CC, with Frenford winning the toss and electing to field.

It proved a challenging first game against strong opposition, providing the young Falcons with an early test of their skills and composure.

There will be plenty to learn from the opening fixture as the campaign progresses.

U13 Falcons — One-Wicket Heartbreak

The U13 Falcons also faced Chingford CC in their opening fixture, with this group taking on the challenge of playing in the U13 division despite being predominantly made up of players stepping up from the U12s.

It was an incredibly close contest, with Frenford eventually suffering a one-wicket defeat on the final ball of the game.

A tough way to start, but an excellent experience for a young group playing above their usual age group — and a reminder of just how fine the margins can be in indoor cricket.

U15 Falcons — Strong Opening Performance

The U15 Falcons produced a strong first-innings batting performance against Loughton CC, with a series of retirements helping Frenford establish a competitive platform.

The pressure then continued into the second innings, with disciplined bowling and good tactical work helping the Falcons control the game.

A positive opening performance and a good indication of what this group can bring to the winter campaign.

Senior Hawks — Saturday Action

Saturday saw the Senior Hawks take to the indoor arena, with Frenford winning the toss and electing to put West Essex CC into bat.

It wasn't to be Frenford's day, with the Hawks ultimately suffering defeat.

Another valuable game under the belt, though, as the senior indoor campaign gets underway.

U11 Kestrels — A First League Win!

Monday night brought one of the weekend's biggest positives, as our U11 Kestrels secured their first indoor league victory.

Put into bat, the young Kestrels produced an impressive team batting performance, with contributions coming throughout the line-up to build a strong total.

The second innings saw an equally disciplined performance with the ball, as the Kestrels bowled economically and kept the pressure on the Buckhurst Hill batters.

A fantastic first league win for this emerging group — and an excellent way to begin their indoor journey.

From tough opening tests to last-ball finishes and a first league victory, there was plenty to take from the opening round of Frenford's indoor campaigns.

For some, it's about competing at a new level. For others, it's about adapting to a different format. And for our youngest players, it's simply about getting out there, learning and enjoying their cricket.
