History In The Making: FCC Field Two Senior Kestrels Sides For The First Time

David Pike9 May - 16:04

A landmark moment for Frenford Cricket Club

Frenford Cricket Club is proud to celebrate a huge milestone in the journey of our Women & Girls section, as this weekend marks the first time in club history that the FCC Senior Kestrels will field two senior hardball Xi's on the same day.

What started as an ambitious vision has rapidly grown into one of the most exciting and progressive sections within the club. In such a short space of time, the Kestrels programme has gone from strength to strength, creating opportunities, pathways and a genuine cricketing home for women and girls across the local community.

This achievement is a reflection of the incredible work happening behind the scenes. Huge credit must go to Mafuza and Head Coach Rob, whose passion, commitment and belief in the project laid the foundations for what we are now witnessing. Alongside them, coaches Imtiaz, Sanjana and Umer have played a massive role in developing players, building confidence and creating a culture that players genuinely want to be part of.

Equally, none of this happens without leadership at the top. Our Chair and Vice Chair, Irfan and Yasin, have backed the women’s game from day one, creating the space, structure and support needed for the section to flourish and grow organically.

To now see two competitive senior Kestrels sides representing Frenford on the same weekend is not just a proud moment for the Women & Girls section, it is a proud moment for the entire club.

And the exciting part? We are only getting started.

There is still so much more to come from the Kestrels, with more players developing through the pathway, more opportunities being created, and an even bigger future ahead for women’s cricket at Frenford.

One Club. One Dream. Together. Frenford Pride.
