Frenford Cricket Club's Senior T20 Hawks have been crowned champions of the 2nd edition of the ECCL Heritage Cup following an entertaining and hard-fought season-long campaign.

The Heritage Cup has provided something slightly different for our senior players this year — a competition played with a relaxed and enjoyable spirit, while still providing plenty of competitive cricket. The Hawks embraced that ethos throughout the campaign, building towards a final against local neighbours Redbridge.

With the trophy on the line, Frenford produced their best when it mattered.

Batting first, the Hawks posted an excellent 188/4 from their allotted 20 overs, giving Redbridge a substantial target to chase. The visitors battled hard in reply but Frenford's bowling and fielding kept them under pressure, eventually restricting Redbridge to 154/5.

A 34-run victory secured the Heritage Cup and brought a hugely enjoyable campaign to the perfect conclusion.

For Frenford, the achievement is about more than simply winning a trophy. The Hawks have represented the club in the spirit in which this competition was intended — enjoying their cricket, bringing different players together and creating another opportunity for senior members of the club to play competitive T20 cricket in a positive environment.

A huge thank you must also go to FCC's top groundsman, Dan Oliver.

Dan's tireless work throughout the season, managing and preparing the pitches at Frenford HQ, has been instrumental in allowing our fixtures to continue to be played at home. His work behind the scenes often goes unnoticed, but without it, so much of the cricket taking place at HQ simply would not be possible.
