Celebrating Ravi's Generation Spanning County Career

As the 2026 season approaches, news has broken that our very own Ravi Bopara has officially retired from county cricket, bringing to a close an incredible 23-year professional journey in the English game.

A constant presence since the very first edition of the T20 Blast in 2003, Ravi steps away from county cricket to focus on the next chapter, commentary, coaching, and continuing to shape the game globally.

But here at Frenford, we see this moment a little differently.

To the cricket world, Ravi is a decorated international, a Blast winner, and one of the most respected T20 players of his generation. - To us, he’s simply one of our own.

Ravi’s story is one that resonates deeply within our club. From early mornings helping at his family’s newsagents to long drives out to play cricket, his journey is built on hard work, sacrifice, and relentless dedication.

That DNA was formed right here, , at Frenford, in our nets, on our outfields.

And despite a career that has taken him across the world, nothing has ever changed that.

What defines Ravi isn’t just the runs, wickets, or trophies, it’s his connection to people. He’s never been distant. Never unavailable.
Whether it’s leaning on the boundary rope, chatting in theclub, or offering quiet advice to a young player in the nets, Ravi has always remained grounded, present, and part of the club. For our juniors, that’s priceless.

He doesn’t just inspire from afar, he shows up.

Ravi once described himself as “part of the furniture” in county cricket. At Frenford, he’s part of the foundation.

His journey, from local talent to global professional, is the blueprint we hold up to every young cricketer walking through our gates. Proof that with the right mindset, guidance, and belief, anything is possible.

While he won’t feature in this summer’s Blast, Ravi’s story is far from over. From coaching roles to media work, and whatever comes next, his influence on the game continues.

And at Frenford, he’ll always have a home.

From everyone at Frenford Cricket Club, players, coaches, families, and supporters, thank you.

For the memories.
For the inspiration.
For never forgetting where it all started.

You are, and always will be, Frenford through and through.

And Dont forget to vote for Ravi for induction into th e Vitality T20Blast Hall of Fame: https://www.ecb.co.uk/t20-blast/hall-of-fame?utm_source=MovableInk&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=BlastHallOfFame
