Strong performances across FCC as the senior sides delivered wins, fight and togetherness in another positive weekend.
1ST XI – Mo Amin (Captain)
The 1s welcomed Belhus CC to the Jack Carter Centre looking to continue the strong start to the season, but despite an outstanding bowling performance from Fazal Rehman, the lads fell short against a strong Belhus side.
After losing the toss and being asked to field, Frenford worked hard throughout the innings and were led brilliantly by Fazal, who tore through the batting line-up with a superb six-wicket haul. It was one of the standout individual performances of the season so far, with support coming from the rest of the attack as Frenford battled hard in the field.
Chasing the target, the side showed intent in patches but were unable to build the partnerships needed to stay ahead of the game. Despite some positive contributions with the bat, wickets at key moments slowed the chase and ultimately Belhus managed to hold control of the contest.
A frustrating result, but plenty to take from the game, especially the character shown by the group and the outstanding spell from Fazal, which deserved far more reward on the day.
2ND XI – Haroon Zakria (Captain)
The 2s travelled away to Chingford CC in what turned out to be another hard-fought contest and a brilliant response from the side under pressure.
It was the spin attack that completely changed the momentum of the game in Frenford’s favour. Muhammed Rahim produced a superb spell with the ball, claiming five wickets, with a match-winning performance. The spinners controlled the middle overs brilliantly and never allowed Chingford to settle into any rhythm.
The energy and commitment in the field matched the bowling effort, with the side staying disciplined and backing each other throughout.
With the bat, Frenford showed composure in difficult moments, building partnerships at important stages to guide the team home and secure another valuable league victory.
Another strong all-round performance from the 2s and another excellent step forward for the squad.
3RD XI – Waqqas Naqvi (Captain)
"Bloody Battered & Bruised"
The 3s were in imperial form at home, holding a strong Orsett side to 154 in 45 overs. Syed Hussain bowled with real pace on a flat back pitch, picking up three early wickets — and that doesn’t happen often at the old PLA.
A solid 67 from Khurram, despite going off halfway following a bouncer that nearly ripped his ear off, helped us get over the line by 7 wickets. However, once more, the middle order struggled at stages during the chase.
Overall, a brilliant performance and the 3s register their first league win of the season.
4TH XI – Rob Rollins (Captain)
Frenford 4th XI produced an outstanding all-round performance to secure a 35-run victory away at Billericay, posting an impressive 287/5 before restricting the hosts to 252/5.
The day belonged to 14-year-old Ayaan Azam, who announced himself in senior cricket with a superb maiden century. Batting with maturity well beyond his years, Ayaan struck a brilliant 120 from 102 balls, including 15 boundaries, anchoring the innings and building key partnerships throughout.
He was well supported by Taseen Ansari, who added an excellent 77, helping set the platform for a commanding total.
With the ball, the side worked hard as a unit to defend the score, with Ibraheem Abulkhairi claiming two important wickets while Hamdam Khan and Maf Faheem chipped in with one apiece.
A fantastic team performance, but a truly special day for young Ayaan and a proud moment for the club seeing one of our juniors score his maiden senior hundred.
5TH XI – Razi Siddiqui (Captain)
Frenford won the toss and elected to bat first. The innings had a challenging start as wickets kept falling regularly at one end, putting us under pressure early. However, Harsh played a sensible and responsible inning. The tail-end batsmen provided valuable support, allowing Harsh to score his maiden century. Thanks to his excellent effort and the contributions around him, Frenford posted a competitive total of 228.
Defending the score, our bowlers started brilliantly and put Hornchurch Athletics under pressure from the beginning by taking early wickets. Bhavyameet bowled brilliant spell and managed to remove both openers early, giving us complete control of the game. The bowlers maintained disciplined lines and lengths throughout the innings and never allowed the opposition to settle and took regular wickets. Hornchurch Athletics were eventually bowled out for under 100, securing a comprehensive victory for Frenford.
KESTRELS 1ST XI – Fatima Imtiaz (Captain)
A tough game for the Kestrels against a strong Wanstead side in the Women’s 100 Cup. Despite the result not going our way, the team competed hard throughout in what was a close and competitive game played in good spirit.
There were plenty of positives to take from the performance, with the side continuing to show resilience, togetherness and fight against experienced opposition.
A frustrating outcome, but another important learning experience for a developing group that continues to grow week by week.
