Frenford Cricket Club are incredibly proud to congratulate our Senior Kestrels Captain, Fatima Imtiaz, after being named East London Sports Female Athlete of the Year at a prestigious awards evening held at the iconic O2 Arena.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Fatima is still only 16 years old and currently balancing school life alongside her cricketing journey, making this recognition an extraordinary reflection of her dedication, discipline and maturity both on and off the field.

Over recent seasons, Fatima has become one of the driving forces behind the remarkable rise of the Frenford Kestrels programme, helping lead a new era for women’s and girls’ cricket at the club. From junior pathways to multiple senior hardball sides, her development has mirrored the incredible growth of the section itself.

But behind every successful young player is a support network, and special recognition must go to Fatima’s parents, Mahfuza and Imtiaz, whose tireless dedication, sacrifice and belief have helped pave the way not only for Fatima’s success, but also for the wider growth of the women’s section at Frenford Cricket Club.

Their work behind the scenes, commitment to creating opportunities and passion for developing girls’ cricket continues to have a lasting impact across the club.

Fatima’s development has also been heavily supported through the mentorship and coaching of former Essex & England A professional Robert Rollins and his Rollins Cricket Academy, whose guidance and support continue to play an important role in helping nurture some of the area’s brightest young talent.

Despite the recognition and success now coming her way, Fatima remains humble, grounded and committed to helping inspire the next generation coming through the Frenford pathway, exactly the qualities that make this achievement feel so special for everybody connected to the club.

To see one of our own recognised on such a major stage at the O2 is a hugely proud moment for the entire Frenford family.
